Scott Pruitt, the EPA administrator, has refused to discuss whether climate change contributes to hurricanes. After Hurricane Irma swept Florida, Pruitt said it is “very, very insensitive” to victims in Florida to discuss climate change.
Today Pruitt made his position even clearer and also expressed his distrust of hurricanes:
“I think it is very, very insensitive to talk about various risks of global warming when people might be paying full attention to such issues. We should respect the wishes of the American people to remain ignorant about those risks.
I further urge people not to attribute too much significance to hurricanes because this year proves that hurricanes clearly have a liberal bias. They are pursuing liberal agenda of making America environmentally conscious. In the Trump administration we’re not going to let it happen.”
